ASSAM’S RONGALI BIHU CELEBRATED AT SILIGURI’S UTTARAYON

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri 30th April, 2016: Assam’s most significant and traditional festival, Rongali Bihu was celebrated by Assamese Community in Siliguri with much pomp and happiness. Uttarayan Bihu Udjapan Socio-cultural Welfare Samity has organized a ‘Rangoli Bihu Cultural Nite’ in association with a hospitality club on Saturday. This is for the second time it is being celebrated in Uttarayon after 2014. Mr. Hemanta Kalita and Smt. Gayetri Sharma of the Samity along with ten members of the committee have organized the program. A generous crowd gathered to celebrate the spirit of Rangoli Bihu in Uttarayan, Siliguri. The cultural program of Bihu of this years was dedicated to Assam’s cultural icon and the legendary personality Jayanta Hazarika. The program started with Assamese chorus song. Then there was the heritage and culture trivia.  Several traditional instruments were used like Dhol, Taal, Pepa, Toka, Bahhi and Gogona.  Apart from the cultural festival, there was a snacks party consisting of sweets, chole, samosa, donuts etc.
